McCannick Filming in Philadelphia

A new movie has recently begun production in Philadelphia entitled McCannick.  The film is set to film in the city for the month of September and some of October.  David Morse, Brandon Routh, and Glee's Cory Monteith have all been filming in the city over the past few weeks.  Since most of the film is being done through volunteer work there is not a lot know about the upcoming locations.  Cory Montieth was spotted filming scenes over the past week.  I do not know a lot about this project, but if I hear any news about the film I will be sure to share with you all.

Do No Harm Filming Update

So I wanted to give you guys an update about the NBC show, Do No Harm currently filming in Philadelphia.  I was selected as an extra and of course can't say too much about the filming so this entry will be cryptic.  It was a long day on set since we were there for twelve hours.  I can't say what I was playing in the background but I can say that my 'props' were a 9 year old kid and a coffee cup.  The set was really neat. The production made a permanent set in a building with various different settings in the set itself if that makes sense.  Since it has already been mentioned that this is a Jekyll and Hyde type medical drama I can discuss a little about that.  While I was on set the main character portrayed both his Jekyll and Hyde-esque counterparts which was interesting to see.  The best was seeing him as 'Jekyll' in an outdoor scene where he did something that looked really fun, again can't say.  The series will be filming until the end of January. Sorry I could not reveal much about the filming, but just know that this show looks like its going to be really good.  You can catch it on NBC this January. For more information and some clips head on over to http://www.nbc.com/do-no-harm/.  Thanks for reading!!!

Backwards the Movie: Detailed Report

If anyone has been keeping up with this blog over the past year you may have noticed that I was in a locally shot film last year entitled Backwards. The movie tells the story of Abby Brooks, a competitive rower who misses her chance to be on an Olympic team and becomes a rowing teacher in a prep school and helps inspire two young rowers accomplish their dreams. The movie was released over the weekend in select cities and I went and saw it on Friday. I really enjoyed the story line and it was especially cool seeing myself in all my blurry glory in the background of about ten scenes. Seeing the film brought back a lot of memories of shooting and I figured I could share a few insider secrets about the filming since the movie is now out.  In all of the pictures below I am visible.

This scene was shot at a bar on the Main Line.  I had to drink 'movie beer' which can be described as carbonated apple juice that sat out for three days and went flat mixed with water. It did not taste that great obviously. I got to sit right next to the leads which was cool. That entire scene I think I kept repeating 'Pizza, French Fries' to my friend that came to meet me and made it look like we were having a conversation. We can't really talk while filming so we did a lot of pantamiming. There was a girl on set that day that yelled 'Hey Dawson can I get a picture?' to James Van Der Beek. He took a picture with her, but I did not see her after that since background cannot approach the actors. I tried to warn her not to do it, but she did not know set etiquette.

This was my first day on set for the cafeteria scene. I had to pick up a brownie about five times and walk to my seat. Production told me not to eat the brownie for continuity reasons, but of course I ate it. In fact you can see me eating in the scene. That was also the day I approached the two female leads and started a conversation thinking they were also background. They did not mind my mistake and talked to me for about five minutes during their lunch. Both girls were extremely nice and did not mind discussing their film making experiences.

The prom scene was a long shoot. I was a little jealous of the one lead girl because they basically told her to pick out a guy from a line up that she would kiss in the prom scene because there were so many good looking guys there. The night we filmed I almost passed out because wearing a heavy prom dress on a freak 107 degree day was not fun and I was very dehydrated. Luckily craft services brought gatorade. I was actually right behind the two leads while they were slow dancing, but that was cut. Luckily, you can still see me in this little scene in my prom dress from 10 years ago, I do not grow.

This day we filmed the big race sequence. It was really weird pantamiming yelling and screaming, but we did it for many of the shots so the leads could say their lines. I actually brought HughE Dillon with me to this scene and he was in the background of this shot as well which was new for him being that he is typically on the outside looking in with a lot of productions.

The day that we filmed on the Waterworks and inside the Art Museum was especially painful. We were told to be there at 8am and we were used for the scene in the picture at 9am which was fine.  In this scene is that I was told to act like a tourist and take a picture with two girls.  The funny thing is we had to take the picture about four times so I had four versions of the same photo taken for the scene.  One of those four photos is below.  We were then brought back to holding to change our looks to go inside the Museum to film. We were stuck in a small room with no air conditioning for about 8 hours until they finally brought us to the Museum around 6pm and you can barely see any of us in the Museum scene. It was all in good fun though as we just sat there and talked to each other about our lives and movies and pop culture. I would have done it again if given the chance. Plus we got to plank inside the Art Museum on a day that it was actually closed.

The pizza party scene was actually filmed the same day as the bar scene that I was in. We had to literally be taken back to holding where we were given about 5 minutes to change our looks. I put pigtails in my hair for some reason and a skirt. We did not do much except try to make each other laugh in this scene. I think one of the other girls at my table starting laughing really loud, we did not get in trouble though.

The airport scene was great to film. I arrived late because I was working late the night before and had to arrive an hour late. I was taken over in the car with David Allen Bosche and he actually lifted my bag out of the van for me. He seemed like a really cool guy on the ride over. They actually placed me in that location so my butt was toward the camera. They switched me with another girl so that my butt was the first thing that you could see in the line. I guess I should be flattered. Suprisingly I was in a lot of the airport sequence. They must have liked me! No I'm just kidding. This was probably the longest scene that you could clearly see me in the background. Suprisingly my feet did not hurt too much later even though I was wearing those huge heels.

The final scene that I was in was shot outside the Vesper boathouse on Boathouse Row. For the one portion of the scene I was talking with one of the principles and she hugged me in the first take. I had to hug her about four more times for the other takes, but it was not shown in the final scene. Mainly you can see me laughing at them in the background. One of the other extras was told to stand by the grill but at the beginning of every take he would walk down with tongs in hand to the front of the action and he ended up right in the center of the shot. It was just funny because he said that he did not want to be left out of the shot. I think I was laughing about that in the scene. Even better my prop that day was cake, yum!

Now that you have heard my behind the scenes insights I highly recommend you go see the film. It is a great family film that focuses on how sometimes putting others dreams in front of your own is the better option. The movie is available on itunes and video on demand if it is not showing in a city near you. Go to backwardsthemovie.com for more information! Thanks for reading!

Visiting The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter

I wanted to start out this entry by apologizing for not updating the blog too much. I have been busy with work and life in general that I have not had the time to update. Also this entry is not movie filming related, its just a fun entry about my life. If you do not care, stop reading!! Anyway, I just returned from a really great trip to Florida where I went to Universal Studios with my boyfriend Pete. After about four years I finally got to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Being that I am a huge fan of the books and films it was a special trip to say the least.

The attention to the small details in the Potter section of Islands of Adventure was mind boggling. We started off our first day at the park with a breakfast at the Three Broomsticks where I had my first taste of actual Butterbeer. The drink was similar to root beer with a buttery foam on top, it was delicious!

The breakfast was not too bad either. mentioned the small details earlier because not only did they play various songs from the Potter films, but you could also hear footsteps and chairs moving on the floor about since it is actually an inn in the books. It is just neat to see the small nuonces from the book made it into reality and the park was truly genuine to the story line. Another fun detail was that in the restrooms in this section of the park Moaning Myrtle's voice was played over the loud speakers in both male and female bathrooms (do not want to leave out the boys). It was kind of strange hearing that while doing bathroom business but fun nontheless.

After breakfast we headed over to Ollivanders where I was chosen out of about 20 people to do the wand experience just as Harry did in Diagon Alley. I felt a little silly, but I managed to have fun with it and of course bought my wand.

I only did two of the four rides in the Wizarding World, mainly because I do not do upside down rides and two of the rides are upsidedown coasters. The Hogwarts ride was apsolutely amazing! In the ride, they incorporate holograms, large puppets, giant screens, and chair movements. Although it is similar to the Spiderman ride in the park, it is totally innovative in the way it operated and I really enjoyed it. I filmed the entire ride, but it is hard to do since most of the ride is dark and my camera is small.

The Flight of the Hippogriff ride was a good coaster, but it is mainly for kids and lasts only a few seconds.

After spending some time in the Wizarding World we decided to move on to other parts of the park and went on many of the well known rides that are there. I am not going to bore you with details from the entire vacation, but just wanted to share my thoughts on the new Harry Potter section. From what I hear they are expanding the section and creating a Diagon Alley in the Universal side of the parks where the Jaws section once was. It is also speculated that they are also planning a Hogwarts Express ride so guests can ride from one park to the other on the train. This will also increase the sales of the Park Hopper tickets, but well worth it for what you get. Thats about all I have to say about my trip to the park, if you have not been there yet, I suggest going and checking it out!

Paranoia Set Report July 24, 2012 Liam Hemsworth and Richard Dreyfuss

Hey everyone I am back!
Finally I have returned with some juicy details about the new movie filming in Philadelphia. Paranoia has been talked about for a long time and there has been a lot of buzz about it and I have some inside scoop on the film starring Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman, Richard Dreyfuss, Liam Hemsworth, and Lucas Til.

The movie production has been filming around 5th and Morris in Philadelphia for the past few days and I finally made it to the set. I went to the set today and got to watch some scenes between Liam Hemsworth and Richard Dreyfuss. The scene was the two of them sitting on steps and talking. Another scene was filmed with Hemsworth going for a jog down the street which I did not manage to get footage of.

The call time this morning was 11am and they were continuing to film inside for the rest of the day. I heard they would be outside this evening but I decided I did not want to wait around all day. The production in moving tomorrow to a location in Center City a few blocks away from Rittenhouse Square. The crew has been building a set on the street, but good luck trying to get close because this is all interior shooting for the next week.

For all the fans waiting to catch a glimpse of Liam Hemsworth with fiancee Miley Cyrus you might have some difficulty because a source tells me the hotel where they were staying has been changed due to a massive amount of fans waiting outside all day long for the past few days. Miley has left Philadelphia and was spotted shopping in New York City today so she is probably staying close to Liam for a few days at least before they have to seperate again. I am going to try to go to the set tomorrow even though it is being filmed all inside. If I see anything good I will be sure to share with you all!  Until then check out the footage from today in the player below.  Thanks for reading!

Wizard World Philadelphia Day 4 - June 3, 2012

The final day of Wizard World Philadelphia was for me as for everyone else bitter sweet. I did not want it to end but there was still plenty to do and see and of course buy.

On Sunday my friend and I decided to be different and dressed up as Being Human characters from the British version of the show... no one knew who we were. A lot of people confused my friend for Xander Harris from Buffy the series, he went with it. We did go up to Sam Witwer from the American version of the show and he figured out who we were. He also told us that he has only watched the first three seasons of the British version of Being Human. He was not very sold on an OCD vampire that does not drink blood, but I digress.

I went to two panels on Sunday the first being the Buffy panel. Since this is the 20th anniversary of the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie, they had a 20th anniversary panel. There were five cast members there including Kristy Swanson (Buffy from the movie), James Marsters (Spike), Amber Benson (Tara), Mark Metcalf (The Master), and Claire Kramer (Glory). The audience was packed with over four hundred super fans of the show and film. Below you can find some excerpts from the panel.

The second panel I attended was Melissa Joan Harts. I really was interested in going to hers because I was big fan of Clarissa and Sabrina. Hart is pregnant with her third child and was really welcoming to the fans. It is interesting to hear all about the things from the shows I watched as a teenager talked about in a behind the scenes manner. Hart talked a little about how her cat, Salem was operated on the show Sabrina and how she originally auditioned for Blossom before landing the role as Clarissa. Below you can find excerpts from her panel.

By the time the panels were over the convention was winding down. We decided to walk around for the last hour or so and just buy some things before eventually leaving. The convention this year was massive and twice as good as last year. A lot of the lines to see celebrities were long, but that shows that Wizard World really gets in some good talent that people really want to meet. I did not get to see the five captains of Star Trek but I know for a fact that the line to see them was absolutely massive. If you did not get a chance to attend the convention this year you can always check them out next June when they return to the city. Check them out at www.wizardworld.com for anymore information and thanks for reading my account of the convention! Until next year!

Below you can find a compilation video of the entire convention, well just the things I did, ENJOY!!!

Philadelphia Wizard World 2012 Costume Contest June 2, 2012

The costume contest this year at Wizard World Philadelphia was interesting to say the least.  From a female version of the Rocketeer to a group of Naruto character this year had a lot of entries and some great winners.

The winner of best in show went to a man who I am sure was the actual Loki from the new Avengers film.  The event was once again MCed by the Defuser, winner of the second season of Stan Lee's Who Wants to be a Superhero.  There were several highlights of the event which I actual entered myself and my friend into.  We were both Doctor Who characters, he played the Doctor where as I played Rose Tyler.

Although I do not condone heckling there were two guys there that made the almost three hour event more interesting to say the least.  With over 130 entries, two guys really stood out and they were dressed as Terrence and Phillip from Southpark.  After recieving over sixteen complaints these two have made a reputation for themselves as pranksters and add commentary to almost every panel.  When they were called on stage they used the fake names of King Kong and the Empire State Building to avoid being passed over by the Defuser.  Awesome videos of the dynamic duo!

After they got off stage it was our turn to go up and I took the mic and invited the duo back on stage which the crowd really enjoyed but was not appreciated by the Defuser.  Anyway there was a lot of fun to be had at the event this year.

Before the winners were announced all of the Doctor Who characters raided the stage for a random dance time and also included some of the other contestants into the dance which was fun.

In the end some of the winners included 1950s Arkham girls from Batman, a Skyrim character, Doctor Who enemies, Booster Gold, and of course Loki.

Although we did not win anything we sure had a fun time covering the event.

After the contest I had to do this, sue me!

Wizard World Day 3 - Bruce Campbell Panel June 2, 2012

Day two (or day three for everyone else) was on Saturday. Because i did so much on Saturday this post is going to focus on the panel that I attended, Bruce Campbell. We got to the convention a little late and decided to check out the Bruce Campbell panel.

During the panel Bruce took fans with Evil Dead tattoos on stage to have a contest. Six people went up and the winner, a man planning to tattoo both legs with evil dead characters won receiving $2 from the pocket of Bruce Campbell.

Bruce also talked a lot about his upcoming projects including the Evil Dead remake which he, Sam Raimi, and Rob Tapert are all involved in. The film is being shot now and should be in theaters or at least finished by next year. He also mentioned that there would not be a lot of CGI in the new film rather they would be using old fashioned makeup effects.

Bruce also talked about his upcoming project, OZ, which is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz. The film also stars James Franco as the Wizard and Campbell mentioned that he has a pivotal role. The film is being made by Disney so he couldn't say too much because they had representatives at the convention dressed as klingons.

Overall the panel was a great time. Even if you have never heard of Bruce Campbell (not possible) you would enjoy his panel! His best line had to Miami - once the face of homelessness now the home of facelessness.

Check back tomorrow for all of the details about the truly amazing costume contest!

BRAND NEW!! Video from the Panel!!

Wizard World Philadelphia Day 2 - June 1, 2012

Hey everyone! Just wanted to tell you guys everything that I did at Wizard World  The good news is I can post all the juicy details about the event and include some pictures and videos. Just as I have done in the past, each day I will be posting details about Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3. I was only able to go for three days so I will post about everything I did.

So my first day at Wizard World was on Friday, which is usually my favorite day of all. The convention is never overly crowded on the first or second day and not to mention its just beginning. So we arrived to the convention around 12:30 and this year did not dissapoint. The first day I decided to dress as Claire Bennet from Heroes (aka the Cheerleader). I was especially excited to see all of the great costumes people came up with this year and as usualy they were amazing! I was able to interview a few of the costumed fans which you will be able to see in the videos I make within a week or so.

One of the main aspects that draw people to the convention every year is obviously the star power it brings to the city. Although some of the headlining stars did not arrive until Saturday, that did not mean that there was a shortage of celebrities. If I recall correctly, I do not believe I saw the line to see Stan Lee go under 50 people all weekend. Fans piled into the convention center to meet their favorite stars even if that meant waiting in line for hours to get a chance to rub elbows with the stars.

If fans were not meeting the stars, they were probably checking out all of the toys and gadgets on the floor. One man was even selling a small device called the Sonic Blast which can literally turn a block of wood into a speaker! Other tables were just filled with everything that a nerd could possibly want. Being that the year is 2012, I noticed a great amount of Zombie preperation going on. Everything from zombie t-shirts to actual survival guides were being sold at the convention. I even saw a few zombies at the convention.

I only was able to go to one panel on Friday and I decided to go with Sam Trammell since I am a huge True Blood fan. Sam was very friendly to fans and answered questions about the new season of True Blood without revealing anything at all. He stated that this season is one of the best yet and he thinks he breaks the nakedness record himself this year. He also revealed that there will be a new female vampire this year I believe a daughter of King Henry 8 if I remember correctly. One person asked which man would you want Sam to have a relationship with (odd question) and people yelled out Eric and Jason, of course I yelled out Andy...I have to be different. Sam seemed to like it though.  VIDEOS NOW HERE!

Tommorrow I plan to post some of the things that I did on Saturday, and there is a lot. Stay tuned for information from the Bruce Campbell panel, the superhero cosplay photoshoot, the costume contest, and just general fun! Thanks for reading!

Dead Man Down / Political Animals / Update / Wizard World

Hey everyone! I know it has been quite a while since my last past and I know a lot of things are happening in Philadelphia, however unfortunately for me, my computer broke and I am in the process of getting a new one. Until then, I have to use a tiny netbook for my blog. But anyway, you all want to know about whats filming and not me!

First of all, the film Dead Man Down starring Colin Farrell and Terrence Howard has been filming in the city for the past few weeks and since I was in Florida during the majority of the outdoor scenes, I missed quite a lot of action. Never fear, my good friend, PhillyChitChat was on the scene as usual and managed to get a bunch of great shots and details about the filming. In the end of April, they shot a scene which involved Colin Farrell on a window ledge and he was throw out of the building which I am sad to have missed. Word is that for the next three weeks the film will be on a soundstage.

The other production currently filming in Philadelphia ia a USA network political drama, Political Animals starring Sigourney Weaver and Ellen Burstyn. The show is about a former first lady who divorces her husband and is currently serving as Secretary of State. The show revolves around her job and her family. I got to be an extra in one of the scenes that was filmed last week and it was really great to see such legends in the same room. As usual, I try not to talk too much about projects I work on, but I did manage to take a few pictures of the star which I will be more to happy to post after the show airs in July. The scene I was in I had to dress in business attire and went with a friend of mine.
The scene was inside and there were about 600 extras. I cannot say too much about the scene until the show airs, but I can say that it was a political scene, yea really.  Since the show was picked up for 10 episodes expect to hear more about this one filming in the city.

So, think that two things filming in Philadelphia is cool, well just wait because your head might EXPLODE! Starting in July (right around when Dead Man Down finishes) Harrison Ford will be in town filming a new movie entitled Paranoia. Also in the film is Gary Oldman and Liam Hemsworth. Stay tuned for updates on this project as well.

As a reminder I will be attending Wizard World Philadelphia again this year and I cannot wait to bring you all the great adventures I go on this year at the convention. Hopefully I will be able to edit video, I will make it happen! Wizard World Philadelphia is happening this year at the Convention Center on May 31, June 1, 2, and 3. If you have a chance I strongly suggest you go because each year gets better and better. This year a bunch of huge celebrities are set to appear including Chris Hemsworth, Stan Lee, the entire cast of the original Evil Dead film, William Shatner, and about a hundred more. Check out www.wizardworld.com for more information and I hope to see you there!

Future Weather Update: Help Fund An Amazing Film!

So as I mentioned before the locally produced eco-concious film, Future Weather has been selected to premiere at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival this year. The film has been gathering so much buzz that the screening sold out in only 4 hours! In addition to the screening there will also be a panel with stars Amy Madigan, Lili Taylor, and Perla Haney-Jardine.

Although this innovative film has been accepted into the festival, they need the community's help to raise money to offset some post production costs including among other things festival travel, posters, and a website. Future Weather featured the greener side of the Philadelphia area something rarely seen in modern films which mainly focus on the big city. Lets help this film get off the ground so that the others can see even the smallest stories can have a big impact.

If this interests you as much as it interests me please check out http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/futureweathermovie/future-weather-tribeca-world-premiere?ref=card and donate whatever you can to help the project. Even $5.00 can help. The goal is to get $40,000 by May 9, 2012. Lets show that we care and help get this project rolling.

To hear more about the project and the film, check out the video below

Future Weather World Premiere at Tribeca Film Festival

Back in summer 2010, the independent film, Future Weather filmed around the Philadelphia area. Now the film is being released and premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 29. This film introduced a new and innovative production process as it was a green set and revolved around bettering the environment.

I reported on the film several times back in August 2010 and was invited to the set on a few occasions. It was a very pleasant experience and very interesting to see how a green set works. If you would like to read the report I made back in 2010 check here.

Future Weather was written, directed, and produced by Jenny Deller and produced by Kristin Fairweather. The film stars Lili Taylor, Amy Madigan, and newcomer Perla Haney Jardine. The film is a coming of age story about the relationship of a young girl and her grandmom after her mom leaves her. It tells their story and how they begin to relate to each other during a troubling time in their lives.

To learn more about the movie check out the website Tickets go on sale April 16.

Do No Harm Update - March 21, 2012

Hey everyone welcome back! Finally real things are filming in the city again! For the past few weeks, the new M. Night Shyamalan movie starring Will and Jaden Smith has been filming inside studios in Chester. Although that film may never make it to the actual streets to film, other productions have been invading the city.

I was selected to be an extra on the new NBC pilot, Do No Harm starring Steven Pasquale. Unfortunately I cannot give too much away since I worked on the project, but I am willing to give you some insider details. I was told to be at set at 4:30 and signed in. We ate some food and talked a bit before they took us out to...walk, yes walk! Its what all the cool extras do. So thats the insider details, no I'm kidding, but I really did walk! The production actually turned the Convention Center into 'Independence Memorial Hospital' One thing I thought was weird is that the extra they put into a wheelchair was in full makeup and stilletos, I would look just like that too coming out of a hospital. Sadly, I can't give you any more fun details, but check out PhillyChitChat for all the juicy info! When the show comes out keep an eye out for me and my amazing walking skyllz! If you look to the right of the photo you can see Steven Pasquale (in the tie) and director Michael Mayer (sitting in the chair with glasses). Thanks PhillyChitChat for taking the picture as I could not (although I wanted to so bad!!).

We were finally able to leave the set around 1:30 in the morning. It was a great time and I got to meet some great people!

One interesting person I met on set was a PA, Jackass and CKY star, Chris Raab (Raab Himself). I did get to talk to him in between takes and he is a really nice guy. He told me that he was doing this while working on other projects with Brandon Dicamillo and Rake Yohn.

So thats about all I got for you guys. For more information about the filming head on over to PhillyChitChat. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more fun filming updates!

Die Antwoord Concert at the Trocadaro

I know I blog about movies and such, but I thought I would share with you some of the fun I had at the Die Antwoord concert last night. If you have not heard about the band, they are a unique rap trio from South Africa that will confuse you and entertain you at the same time. Gaining popularity from youtube, this trio consists of Ninja, Yolandi, and DJ High Tek.

At the door they almost took my camera away, but luckily I had my handy dandy Press Credentials! The concert itself was amazing and although their music can be only described as strange techno rap, it was exciting and high energy from start to finish. Since I am not much of a concert blogger, I am not going into much detail over everything. I urge you to check out some of their music and general information at their website Feel free to check out the video below of some of their hit song.

Update on Filming in Philadelphia

Hey there sorry no updates in a while, I have been rather busy. I wanted to give you all a heads up on some things coming to the city to film over the next couple months. For those of you who have not heard yet, M. Night Shyamalan is returning to the city to film his new big film, After Earth starring Will Smith and Jaden Smith at the end of this month. From what I hear it is kind of a post apocolytic film and there will not be very many extras involved besides for army type people. The production is currently taking play in Costa Rica and is said to reach Philadelphia by the end of February. One known location for the film is the Budd Manufacturing Facility at 2450 W. Hunting Park Ave in North Philly. Stay tuned for more information about this project.

The best news of all, Shyamalan's film is not the only thing filming here over the next year, many other productions are coming to the city, many of them are large productions! Another movie set to film in Philadelphia for a 40 day shoot is Dead Man Down, directed by Niels Arden Oplev (director of the original Girl With The Dragon Tattoo). This New York-set mob movie will star Colin Farell and Noomi Rapace.

There are also two television shows to be shot in the area. The first is Do No Harm, a NBC medical drama about a doctor struggleomg with his alter ego in a Jekyll and Hyde type relationship. The other series will be titled Political Animals which will poke fun at notable political figures.

The Philadelphia film office will also be launching a new website on February 14 so make sure to check that out.

If you want more information for anything I mentioned here be sure to check out UWISHUNU

Damages and Pan Am Set Visit

Hey everyone! I thought I would share a little insight I gathered over the past week during my trip to New York City. I had planned on visiting at least one set during my stay in the city, but I would have never guessed that a set would come to me!

On the first day of my trip, I decided I wanted to visit the set of Pan Am since I always wanted to see a period piece filming. When I arrived on the set, they were filming inside of a building in Harlem and just about to go to lunch, however I did see many 1960s cars lining one of the side streets. I took a few pictures and decided to go explore the city. I tried to find the set for Gossip Girl, but I couldn't so I just kind of gave up. I am PhillyFilmGirl after all.

I thought that would be the extent of my set visits during my time in New York, but I never expected to find one in the very hotel I was staying at. All day on thursday, there was a production company at the Travel Inn filming the FX television show, Damages. From what I could tell they were filming there for about 12 hours. They began with a scene inside of the parking garage...I could not really take any pictures of that, but I managed to get a few of the equipment. That night, when I returned to the hotel and exited the elevator, I kind of accidently walked into the middle of the set where I saw two actors in an open room getting their makeup done. I was exited off set and returned to my room. There was a lot of equipment located all over the hotel and it seemed as though the production rented out many rooms to ensure they would be vacant during filming. I thought this was a really fun coincedience and it was a nice change for a set to come to me. And let me add once again, I DID NOT know this was filming in my hotel when I booked the room over two months ago, it was a total suprise which I thought was really cool.

While walking around the city, I was able to spot at least three other random productions by the Haddads trucks. New York City is always full of film and television productions and anyone would be sure to find something filming during any given time.
