Philadelphia's Running of the Santas 2011

Hey everyone! Welcome back!

So during the downtime between film shoots in the city I figure I will just post some things about fun stuff I do in this city. Since the holidays are rapidly approaching, I figured I would take part in this year's Running of the Santas with a friend of mine.

Of course, I supplied the Santa costumes for the event and tried to look as festive as possible. We arrived at Finnegan's Wake Bar around 4pm after walking around the city for a little while. There were over 2000 drunken Santas awaiting their trip down to Festival Pier. Everyone in attendence was dressed in their best holiday costumes. I was suprised to see many Buddy the Elfs, my favorite Christmas movie is of course Elf. One 'Santa' even had a beer tree, yes a beer tree. As soon as it was time to start the three block trip down to Festival Pier, many of them started off running, but people kind of slowed down due to heavy drinking I suppose. It was really enjoyable to watch. We went into Festival Pier for about fifteen minutes, but people were too drunk and ridiculous, so we ended up leaving and going to enjoy ourselves downtown which was way better than getting crushed under creepy Santas and half clothed Santa Babys. All in all, the event was really something to witness and the run itself was the fun part of the day.

Celebrity Appearances: Kel Mitchell at Club 27 in Old City November 23, 2011

Hey everyone! I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving and I hope you all got some quality time with your family.

But this post is all about the night before Thanksgiving, the biggest party night of the year. I decided to go to Club 27 in Old City to celebrate with my friend Mike because I heard that Kel Mitchell (Good Burger, All That) was going to make an appearance at an orange party.

I love theme parties, so of course my friend and I wore orange shirts. When we got there at around 11pm, there was about 10 people there, no lie. Maybe one other person was in orange. Since the party was 18 to enter, 21 to drink, we decided to go the 21 section upstairs where we found maybe 5 more people. While we were waiting for Kel to make an appearance, a girl approached us and asked if we wanted to meet Kel, so we said sure. She then took us upstairs to meet Kel.

He was actually a pretty cool guy. I tried to get a short video with him, but the music was way too loud to get anything. I asked him how many bottles of orange soda he has had in his life and he said that he had about 20,000 and that its alright. I got a quick picture with him and went back downstairs. By the time he came out around 12:45, there was about 25 people in the club.

He was out for about 20 minutes, did some of his most memorable lines from his shows, and then kind of went back upstairs and hung out. Oh he also expressed his love for orange soda.

It was actually my first time going out on Thanksgiving eve and although I got to meet Kel Mitchell, I was kind of suprised by the lack of people in the club. I thought it was the biggest party night of the year, and for only about 30 people to show up is crazy. I even think half of the people in the club worked there. There was an entire other room with a DJ with NO ONE inside except for him...no one was even bartending in that room. The club itself was really cool and the DJ was great in my opinion, just not very crowded. I mean for an orange party only about five people including Kel himself were even wearing orange. There was supposed to be an orange soda chugging contest and the winner was going to get $200, but the club was not even serving orange soda and there was NO contest. There was also supposed to be an orange outfit contest with another $200 winner, but again, nothing. I guess it was because of the lack of people in the club which was not really cool.

But still, I had a good time and recommend people to go to Club 27 as they do have a lot of celebrity guests all throughout the year including Sean Paul and they also have frequent Q102 broadcasts. Check them out at their website.

If you are visiting my site from another state, you too can see Kel Mitchell while he makes his 'All Orange Everything' tour across America.

Silver Linings Playbook Weekend Update for November 13

Welcome back! I am kind of dissapointed because I missed a bit of good filming last night. The production finally wrapped at the 9th and Sansom location in the city around 3am. Filming took place outside and they had the set looking like Christmas. I would have loved to see it but I hear that security was still really tight downtown.

I wanted to try to go to the set tomorrow, but I think I have to work, so I figure I would share some information with you guys instead. Filming continues tomorrow and the cast and crew are back in Upper Darby. The production returns to the 200 block of Madison Avenue and will remain there until Monday. Call time for the crew tomorrow is 9am which means that filming should begin around 12 if not earlier. Following that, they return to Chestnut Street in the city. I believe they have about a little over a week to go on the shoot. If you happen to go feel free to send me your pictures. I have to work tomorrow, but I want to try to visit the set if I can. Until later!

Silver Linings Update for Wednesday November 9

Hey everyone!

Just a little update on the Silver Linings Playbook film currently shooting in Philadelphia. If you happen to wonder down to Lincoln Financial Field tomorrow, then you might see some action! (and some lights and cameras too!). The film is currently shooting at the Linc for a pre game tailgaiting scene. I went down to the set today, but sadly as soon as I got there, they wrapped, just my luck. Tomorrow I hear is a much longer day (they only shot for three hours today). There will be a lot more people there tomorrow as well.

If you have the chance to go down to the stadium, try to fit in with the crowd, do not stand out! I suggest wearing something Eagles related (if they survived the fireplace after last night's game). I went down today and wore Eagles gear and walked right into the middle of the set. Robert Deniro and Bradley Cooper were on set today, but I did not see them. Deniro was driving around in an old Cadillac with a bunch of cameras on the car. It actually just looks like a game day there, but obviously it is not. The set up is pretty large so just kind of wander through if you get the chance.

Here is a picture of the set I took today. As you can see, it just looks like typical tailgaiting pre Eagles game.

I am trying to get to the set around 9:30am so maybe you will see me there.

Key West - Fantasy Fest 2011 Experience Part 2

So part two of my key west fantasy fest adventure begins!

Saturday was a fun day... It was actually the day of the big parade down duval street. As always, I was on a float again. This year I was with the same group of people.. But I actually got to be in the band! Well, I was a backup singer, not bad.

The video below is excerpts of me singing solo:

Our float theme was yellow submarine. I was dressed as a sgt pepper. I really had a great time and seeing that crowd never ceases to amaze me! There are over 50,000 people lining the streets.Oddly enough I was not the least bit nervous to sing in front of such a large crowd, even though I am inexperienced.

Towards the end of the parade, it began to pour!! I kind of just stood there in the pouring rain.

It did manage to stop raining though!

After the parade, my friend Todd and I decided to go back out and hit the town for a bit. Saturday seemed to be the craziest night by far as most of the party people had totally lost their minds. I was particularly puzzled by empty trash cans with a pile of trash next to them. We also managed to see a 250 pound man covered in glitter dancing to lady gaga... Viewer discretion is advised.

So Sunday was a very low key day and I spent the majority of it inside... First we had to go by the float and just check out the aftermath of the parade. My friend Todd even did his best Mark Wahlberg, Hows your mother? impersonation. By the way, everyone was really crazy after the parade!

We did manage to go to a few local tourist spots just for fun... We went to visit Robert the doll, if you don't know about him, visit his website!

And we also got to visit the always entertaining Customs House Museum. They have a statue of Ernest Hemingway outside and I gave him beads as many other people were doing. After the museums, we kinda chilled at the house. That night was also mischief night, so we played a prank on my friend and put toilet paper all over his studio.

I think it's all still there, he is very slow with cleaning things up.

Monday was Halloween and it's always a fun time. Yes, I went trick or treating and got a bit of candy.

I also decided to rent a car so that we could go around town playing cheesy music and have fun.

I even managed to do a pretty good plank on the rental car.
Since I was dressed as Bieber we decided to go around to the most touristy locations and get a picture.

We stopped at Denny's for some delicious desserts and I managed to win Staypuft from a claw machine, first try!

We then went home and sorted our candy.

Tuesday was sadly my final day in town, but my friend Dana and I tried to make the most of it.
We bought some cute bumblebee outfits and went to ripleys believe it or not and had a techno dance party in their spinning room thing.

After having way too much fun in the museum we had to make a quick break for it because I think the fun police that work there wanted to kick us out.

Dana decided she wanted to go coneing (which is picking up an ice cream cone by the ice cream part)..

She did excellent.

After that, it began pouring... So we went home.

On Wednesday we kind of just hung out at the house and I left that night. All in all, it was another great fantasy fest! In case you are wondering, the theme for next year is A-Conch-Alyspe!

Key West - Fantasy Fest 2011 Experience Part 1

I know you guys love to read about my crazy adventures so I figured I would tell you guys a little bit about my most recent trip to key west for fantasy fest this year. If you follow me on twitter you probably saw a lot of my insane pictures and live updates from the trip, but I would love to share some stuff with people who are just visitors to the blog. In case you have never heard of fantasy fest, it's basically a week of Halloween for adults... Lots of fun! I got into key west on Tuesday the 25th of october and stayed until November 2. Each night of fantasy fest there are all different events and people usually dress up (or get painted) according to the days events.

On Tuesday night, my first night in town, everyone wears plaid because it is plaid night. Because I think plaid is the devil, I decided to go with a less traditional approach and wore a Dorothy costume. I didn't stay out too late on the first night because I was tired from traveling all day. I did manage to see a few great get ups though. The second night of the trip was red night... And the entire town came out once again wearing (or not wearing) their best red, again I got creative and went with a crazy looking glee cheerleader. The main feature of fantasy fest is just seeing the incredible things that people decide to wear and just the sights in general.

I was amazed at the woman in the photo below. She told my friends and I that she was a grandmother! Can you believe that?!

Here is the footage I got from Red Night

The next night of the trip was toga night. This time I decided to add an extra Ga to toga... I was toGAGA! Creative right?!! I was mainly impressed with my makeup skills, although it was a pain to get off. I went out with a friend of mine, he was going for the roman look I think. The corset was really bugging me so I changed into a Jem costume. My friend and I stayed out until about 3am just watching people slowly loose their sanity with alcohol consumption!

While going out the next day, as i was riding my bike, i noticed a lot of police activity on the next block over from the house. There was even a CSI truck. Apparently a man was beaten over the head with a rock just about an hour after My friend and I came home the night before. Literally a block away from the house. I don't think they ever caught the guy that did it, but the victims body was shoved under a delivery truck.
In case you were really wondering what else I do during the day time...well here is some footage we took right before the walking parade:

On Friday afternoon there was a walking parade where everyone just walks in costume. I decided to dress as a mermaid since the overall theme this year was "aquatic frolic".

After the parade, I decided to change into my best costume in my opinion, Justin bieber. We went into the hard rock cafe where they were having a party, even though only about 6 people were there. We decided to turn it into Justin biebers private party and a woman decided to whip me for being bad or something. Always entertaining.

After we left the small gathering, we continued to walk and I was just acting crazy like Justin bieber, I really get into my role! I even took a picture with a drag queen while in drag as Bieber!

Stay tuned because the second half of my adventure will be coming out tomorrow!
